As requested by IV core, from now on my recurring contributions would be $50 ( till date it was $20).
As fellow legal immigrants each of us share a responsibility to ease the process of GC. If each and every member engages in a financial contribution our confidence as a team would grow by leaps and bounds. This i believe would let core team lobby a lot stronger for our causes.
I hope all contributing members would be a motivation for other IV members to contribute.

When you are working for a large(r) corporation, where all fees (including EAD/AP) are paid for by the company, who pays for the MTR?
I was under the impression that the employer pays for the filing, attorney, etc. fees, am I wrong?

Looks like USCIS did all the easy work in June and now they are getting to grip with the reality (that they cannot process even 140K GC in a year!!!). How shameful. May be all the USCIS folks worked so hard during the last few weeks in June that they would have taken a long break from work after June:D:D
If there is a official press release regarding the visa number wastage, then we can take that along with the July 2 visa bulletin and meet with lawmakers to get some accountability from USCIS. This is BS.

We just hope for the better new fiscal year that will start from October 1, 2007.

Congressman's liason may be able to help, but to be on the safe side, fork out $350 and dispute the denial in federal district court. It is different from mandamus, it's an agency action which is not in accordance with the law. Court filing may help you to preserve status/EAD/AP.
Can you shed some light on this process? Do "Immigration Litigation" Attorneys be able to help in this?
This person had been posting on Murthy forum and he did get responses from Attorneys that "mandamus" is the way to go.

I have my sister in law from India on H4. She got married after her husband got his 797B approved and so she does not have her own 797C. The DMV wants her own 797C approval notice to give her a temporary drivers license. How does she get that? Can she file some petition with USCIS to get it?

It is not a big deal dude...if not for this immigration system, we could be making even more..think about $80-$100/hr if you are an independent contractor. This a minimum for a decent contract with vendor directly.
And if you have ~100-200K for investments, with some experience and any luck..you could be making another 100K out of it from trading and active investing in other areas. That comes to ~250-300K minimum. There are no bounds when life is free and in this great country. Unfortunately, things have turned discriminative and our potentials are being restricted(atleast for non-EAD guys) and you have to be prepared for getting outright kicked out of this country.
Wow..... That's an average of more than 100% return consistently. You should start your own hedge fund or maybe advice Warren Buffett.;)

Just wanted to know your thoughts on this. CNN has launched the first ever cnn-youtube debate and the deadline to submit videos is 7/22.. Users have to basically upload their questions on youtube and some of these questions will be selected and democratic presidential candidates will have to answer these questions.
I know its kinda late, but why not upload videos on youtube asking questions about legal immigration to the candidates? i think it will be a great way of bringing out our problems further in the mainstream... if you think this is a good idea, we may have to act on it fast... we dont have much time.

Iam not jumping on the bandwagon but my wife and I are contemplating about opening a (indian) restaurant and I would like to know if we can open one on H1b/EAD status? I know I could consult an attorney but we are not gonna open it right away so wanted to get some insight from experts on this.

Not that I say we need change, but this is a public organization. Everyone has a right to call for election. There is nothing wrong.
Only issue is, whoever wants to contest has to come out with public profile as mentioned by someone before. There are only few people who are openly public and with known real identity on this forum - thats sad!
I am surprised to see that IV has 450K asset! Where did that number come from?
Not that I say we need change, but this is a public organization. Everyone has a right to call for election. There is nothing wrong.

You are exactly getting down to the problem, we need to ask the government we are paying high fees but where's the service ???
That's exactly the point..USCIS is HEADED by fools...the problem lies within...the heads dont really care if their staff is underpaid and over-worked..but the fact of it is that they just don't have the money nor manpower to get the work done. When USCIS adjudicated all those cases in 2002, it was not of their own volition but because Congress mandated it..6 years later they dont care for the immigrants..u think they'd (policy makers) care 2 hoots for the the USCIS officers...just take a look at the Infopass centers...from my experience I havent seen more than 2 officers helping customers at a time..no money..no manpower
