Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

Thanks for your inputs. What I am suggesting is that, every one of us should volunteer for our own good. If you can spend some time, I sugggest that, you send an email to IV core offering them your time so that you can share some of their work load.

bharol, You and I have same Priority Date and Category Mine is also PD 3rd Sept 2004 ( EB-2)
Let me know when you get your approval
Looking at the recent approvals looks like USCIS does the following:
1. Pick up x number of files using a random algorithm.
2. Arrange these files in a random order using the same random algorithm
followed in step 1.
3. Randomly pick any file arranged in step 2.
4. Toss a coin.
5. On odd dates if it is heads,approve the file. On even dates if it is tails
approve it.
6. If file is not approved in step 5 put it on the shelf to be picked up
in step 1 in next cycle.
Let me know when you get your approval

I don't what how you define "most" but I am EB2 with US masters with PD 2006 and I am still waiting. Many of my friends with US masters are still waiting.

I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.
He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
Hope this clears the anxiety.

Here is how I came up with that analysis. Last year they made changes to give GC for those stuck in FBI name check if they passed 180 days. So most of the ROW got their GC last year. There were not many labors approved from 2008. So there is no demand from EB2 ROW this year. With the economy going down, not many would get EB1s either. I don't anticipate many EB5s either this year. So major chunk of EB visas will need to come to EB2I/C. Will CIS do that or not is a different story.

Guys for sake of transparency and moving ahead with a change, we should hold elections for the core team. Lobbying efforts are not working at all.
People are willing to write a letter or particiapte in a call, let alone spent time in meeting lawmakers and spent time in running IV on a daily basis. Please accumlate few candidates and voters. Let's see if the count of voters even reach beyond few hundreds let alone thousands.

For the ROW category, the manual seems to indicate that they have a general date (such as in the Visa Bulletin) but I would expect that they have many visa counts for each country..... Anyone have a quick synopsis of how they handle that?

I have been saving up every penny of my disposable income (after the shopping and eating out and everything else!) to go do the things I've wanted:
Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro
Spend 3 months with my family in India and Dubai
Go back to Culinary School
Go to Bordeaux and learn about wine
Become an amazing photographer (just like one of the members on this forum...)
The list goes on and on....
Just out of curiosity, what's stopping you from doing some of these things now? You probably cannot spend 3 months with your family in India and Dubai or go to culinary school full-time but you can definitely do all the rest while on H-1B/AOS.

I myself in the similar situation. My wife wants to send money to her parents every month (BTW her 2 sister and brother live in US since long time). I did a lot for her parents till last year which I stopped. I help them, when they have money they give it to other family members instead of me. Any way the story is, it took lot of time i.e around 2 years to councel my wife to make her understand.
I told her I can't buy House, no Private Schools, no high end cars. I asked her to make a decision. I clearly expalined her my vision about my career, my view towards the life. She did not completely understand but at this point she is not forcing me (good thing).
Don't give up, just keep explaining about life. she will get it at some point.

People in the forum are talking a lot about visa recapture..
But how will this help if USCIS continues to disregard PDs utterly and just approve cases that they can lay their hands on....
Due to July 2 fiasco, pretty much everyone have filed I-485...Even those with 2007 PDs.
Say USCIS recaptures Visas, makes every category current and starts approving 2007 PD cases! Even worst, due to the every category 'C', may be 2008, 2009 (when it arrives) people start applying I-485 as well, and USCIS continues to consume all the visa numbers to to approve the cases of these lucky bas*$%^&ds (no offence!) with most recent PDs. How does this help you or me with older PDs waitin for years and years ! :(

- the processing power of USCIS is not unlimited
But
- The capability of USCIS to screw up at every opportunity seems to be unlimited
- And the number of lucky bas*$%^&ds who get approved despite newest PDs seem to be unlimited too :)
So , think visa recapture alone wont solve anything. We have to make USCIS accountable. Make them process cases fairly. Make them respect PDs.
